At Bury Luxury we believe a great pair of shoes should be made the way they always have been: by hand, one pair at a time, by people who care about every stitch. Each pair is crafted to order in our UK workshop from carefully selected leather, then finished by hand so that no two pairs are ever quite the same.
We make shoes and boots for men who appreciate quality they can feel: classic Oxfords and Derbies, wingtip brogues, monk straps, loafers, Chelsea boots and jodhpurs, alongside bolder pieces in exotic-embossed leathers and hand-painted two-tone finishes.
How We Make Our Shoes
1. Choosing the leather
Every pair starts with the hide. We work with full-grain cowhide, soft suedes and textured leathers such as crocodile, alligator, python and ostrich embossing. Each hide is inspected by hand for grain, thickness and consistency before it is chosen for a pair.
2. Pattern and cutting
Our craftsmen mark out each piece of the upper by hand, reading the leather to make the most of its strongest, most even areas. The pieces are then cut individually, so the grain and colour sit in harmony across the finished shoe.
3. Stitching the upper
The cut pieces are skived, shaped and stitched together to form the upper. This is where the details come to life: brogue perforations, wingtip patterns, cap toes, buckles and straps are all added at this stage.
4. Lasting
The upper is pulled tightly over a last, a foot-shaped form, and left to take its shape. This step gives every shoe its silhouette and a comfortable, supportive fit.
5. Soles and heels
Once shaped, the upper is joined to its sole and the heel is built up, typically in stacked leather finished with a non-slip rubber insert, or with a rugged lug sole on our boots. Each sole is trimmed and edged by hand.
6. Hand finishing
Finally, the leather is hand-burnished and polished to bring out a rich, deep patina. Laces are fitted, every seam is checked, and the pair is inspected one last time before it leaves the workshop.
Made to Order
Because every pair is made by hand, we make each order specifically for you. Our shoes are available in sizes 8 to 12 (US), including half sizes, and are crafted to order in our UK workshop.
